Food insecurity affects 3.4 million people in our home state of Florida, about 1 in 5 in our community. Of those, 22% are children. This November, we teamed up with our local food bank – Bread of the Mighty – for our first ever can-drive!
We’re all pretty competitive so we split up into department teams to divide and conquer. While we didn’t declare an official winner, our Business Development team definitely nailed it. Way to go Travis, Charlie, Davey, Shael and Brandon. A special thanks to Sakinah, who was a great help in getting everything organized!
We dropped off our donations Wednesday afternoon before our Thanksgiving luncheon. It was awesome to get to see The Bread of the Mighty’s facilities and how much other members of our community had donated. We loaded our haul on their scale and it came out to 195 pounds of food total!
One thing we were struck by was how affordable it was to make a huge impact on the lives of those in need in Alachua County. $100 buys 76 lbs of food and feeds 700 people!
From December 15th – 19th, we’re offering a Cash Flow coupon for a 10% fee for all qualified publishers to redeem their earnings. PeerFly will donate 100% of this to Bread of the Mighty. It’s a great way to cash out early for Christmas and help the less fortunate at the same time!
